Algeria's Ministry of Post and Telecommunications launched a nationwide digital-skills programme in May 2026 offering age-tailored tracks from 7 to 77 years old through seven regional skills centres, drawing over 64,500 citizen registrations within days of launch.
Launched by Minister Sid Ali Zerrouki on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day in May 2026, the "7.77" programme ("From 7 to 77: a national journey toward digital skills") offers seven progressive, age-tailored tracks, from "Tech Discovery" for children aged 7-10 through "Professional Tech" for students and young adults to "Senior Tech" for older citizens, each including mandatory cybersecurity and fraud-awareness content.
Training is delivered through hybrid in-person and remote learning at seven regional skills centres in Algiers, Oran, Annaba, Setif, Chlef, Saida and Adrar, in partnership with national telecom operators Algerie Telecom and Mobilis, as part of the broader "Digital Algeria 2030" strategy. According to Algeria's official state news agency (APS), the programme drew over 64,500 registrations within days of its public launch, with Algiers alone accounting for more than 15,000 participants, ahead of Oran, Blida, Setif and Batna.
As the programme launched only weeks before this record was compiled, no independent evaluation of training completion, skills gained or employment outcomes yet exists; the registration count reflects public interest and initial reach rather than demonstrated learning outcomes, and the entry should be revisited once a full year of delivery has been completed.
