Four girls aged 9-11 from Port Harcourt, Nigeria, mentored by Code Ambassadors Academy, built AgeWell, an AI elder-care app with fall detection, and were named one of five global Beginner Division finalists among 12,000+ entrants from 130+ countries in Technovation Girls 2026.
Team Appsolute — four girls aged 9-11 from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria — built AgeWell, an AI-powered mobile app addressing isolation, neglect and safety risks facing elderly people, mentored by Code Ambassadors Academy under Somkenechukwu Mamah.
The app includes a fall-detection feature and a mechanism for seniors to earn income by sharing knowledge. The team entered Technovation Girls 2026, a global youth AI/app competition.
AgeWell was selected as one of only five teams worldwide to reach the Beginner Division finals of Technovation Girls 2026, out of more than 12,000 participants from over 130 countries who submitted more than 3,600 mobile app and AI projects; Team Appsolute is the competition's sole African finalist this cycle. The team will travel to the Technovation Girls World Summit in Bengaluru, India, in October 2026. Two of the same team members previously won the 2025 Beginner Division Grand Prize with a different app, StayWoke.
This is a competition-stage achievement rather than a deployed, independently evaluated product: AgeWell's effectiveness at reducing elder isolation or improving safety has not been measured outside the competition's pitch and demo format, and the practice reflects the reach of one mentoring organisation and team rather than a system-wide programme.
