Context

Since 2023, Lithuania's State Data Agency (Valstybės duomenų agentūra / Statistics Lithuania) has operated the State Data Lake, the core infrastructure of the LitAI national AI competence initiative, built on the Palantir Foundry platform and embedded in Lithuania's National Digital Decade Plan 2024-2030.

Objectives

By mid-2025, 263 institutional connections had been formally established, with the State Data Agency collaborating with 322 institutions overall; total estimated LitAI investment is EUR 130 million. The open-data component contributed to Lithuania ranking 7th in the EU Open Data Maturity Index 2024.
