STEMGuyana's AI Tutor and Pathway Online Academy — Personalised Learning Across Guyana's Ten Regions

STEMGuyana, a Georgetown-based technology-education non-profit, has built an AI tutor into the 'Learning Pod' after-school programme it originally launched to offset COVID-19 learning loss, now marketed to families as the Pathway Online Academy. The tool was piloted with six learner groups ahead of a planned summer-2024 rollout and is now aimed at reaching students in all ten regions of Guyana, including the sparsely populated hinterland, where STEMGuyana has previously trained hundreds of community mentors to support in-person 'Learning Pods'. As of October 2025, an ongoing international empirical study — reported independently by Kaieteur News — had produced preliminary results showing more than 30% improvement in assessment scores for more advanced learners, with full findings expected in the first quarter of 2026; the same reporting notes the research's own finding that 'the biggest improvements come when an adult is engaged', i.e. the AI supplements rather than replaces mentor involvement.
