Women in Film and Television Cyprus (WIFT CY)

Women in Film and Television Cyprus (WIFT CY) was established in 2017 to promote the representation of women in the film, television and media industries in Cyprus. It is part of a global network of Women in Film and Television organisations spanning over 50 chapters worldwide, and is open to women working in all aspects of the industry, including producers, directors, screenwriters, editors and actors.

The main objective of WIFT CY is to increase the representation of women in the film and television industries, both on-screen and behind the camera, and to create a supportive community that provides networking, mentoring and training opportunities.

Specific activities include hosting events and screenings that showcase the work of women filmmakers, providing mentorship and coaching to women starting or advancing careers in the industry, offering training and education programmes, and advocating for gender equality and fair representation. WIFT CY is a non-profit funded by membership fees and by sponsors, partners and donors such as government agencies, private companies and foundations.
