Digital Isle of Man's 'Activate AI' programme pairs a free 200+ hour online platform with in-person, sector-tailored sessions for all 85,000 residents; official figures cite around 1,000-1,200 participants trained in year one, backed by a new GBP 1m National AI Office in 2026.
Digital Isle of Man, the government's economic development agency, launched 'Activate AI' in August 2024, a whole-population AI upskilling programme combining a free online platform (LearnAI.im, 200+ hours of content) with in-person, volunteer-led, sector-tailored sessions, aimed at all c. 85,000 residents of the Isle of Man.
The government's 2025 Programme report states over 200 hours of training were delivered to 1,000 residents in 2024, while the CEO's summary cites more than 60 courses engaging over 1,200 participants; Raconteur independently reported close to 1,000 participants in the first six months. A GBP 1 million National AI Office was established in January 2026.
