Amira Learning — AI Reading-Tutor Pilot in Jordan's Public Primary Schools

In late January 2026, the Ministry of Education of Jordan, through its Queen Rania Center for Education and Information Technology, began a pilot of Amira Learning's AI-powered reading agent in public primary schools, delivered with implementation partners Carter Education Group and NorthStar Education. The pilot targets Grade 4 and Grade 7 students across multiple regions of Jordan, using Amira's technology, which listens to a student read aloud, gives real-time spoken feedback, and generates progress data for teachers, grounded in Science-of-Reading instructional principles.

Students complete three to five 10–15-minute one-to-one sessions per week over a 12-week instructional phase, with pre- and post-program reading assessments used to measure progress. Teachers receive professional learning and coaching ahead of the rollout, and the Ministry plans Arabic-language localisation for teachers and parents alongside reading materials adapted to the Jordanian curriculum context. The Ministry has stated that pilot data will inform a decision on a year-long national rollout that could eventually reach approximately 800,000 students.
