Mexico's first creative-digital urban district (est. 2012) in Guadalajara's historic centre. Triple Helix governance (ADICD/FMCCD trust) supports animation, gaming, VFX, software and AI firms. Jalisco hosts 40% of Mexico's IT sector and attracted $2.76B in tech FDI (2019–2024).
Ciudad Creativa Digital (CCD) was established in 2012 as Mexico's first creative-digital urban district, located in Guadalajara's historic Zona Centro adjacent to Parque Morelos. The complex covers 5,700 m² of footprint with 28,000 m² of developed floor space across three towers, two of which are completed, and hosts firms in animation, visual effects, video games, software and artificial intelligence.
CCD aims to anchor Guadalajara's creative-digital economy by concentrating specialised firms, talent and events within a dedicated urban district.
Governance follows a Triple Helix model: the public agency ADICD manages daily operations, the FMCCD master trust provides multi-year financial stability, and universities (Universidad de Guadalajara, ITESO, Tecnológico de Monterrey) supply talent and research partnerships. The district also hosts the Pixelatl animation and games festival and benefits from federal PROSOFT co-financing for software and digital-content companies.
CCD has operated continuously for 14 years within a Jalisco tech ecosystem that hosts over 1,000 IT and software companies, about 40% of Mexico's total IT sector output. Jalisco attracted USD 2.758 billion in tech FDI between 2019 and 2024, creating 40,554 jobs, and its universities produce over 10,000 tech graduates annually.
CCD-specific economic metrics are not separately published, so the district's impact is best understood as the symbolic and institutional anchor of a wider state tech ecosystem rather than as an isolable outcome; the headline FDI and employment figures cited are state-wide and cannot be attributed to CCD alone.
