One of the world's first co-operative banks founded by women, Cyprus Women's Co-operative Bank Ltd (WCB) is a non-profit lending institution supporting women's entrepreneurship through business loans, savings and investment products, alongside financial education and networking.

Results

WCB reports rapid deposit growth from EUR 40,000 in 2001 to about EUR 7 million, financing 119 start-ups by women entrepreneurs under 39 under the Scheme for Young Entrepreneurs and providing flexible-term funding to a further 182 women under the Scheme to Enhance Female Entrepreneurship. The share of women entrepreneurs in Cyprus rose from around 12% to around 30% by 2012.
