Egypt's MCIT funds a free 4–6 month ICT programme for students and graduates across 7 tracks including AI, data science and cybersecurity. Launched December 2023, it targeted 30,095 beneficiaries in its first three years with an overall goal of 90,000+ trained across 5+ cohorts.
The Digital Egypt Pioneers Initiative (DEPI) was launched in December 2023 by Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) as a fully funded, zero-cost programme to build technology skills among Egyptian university students and recent graduates. It forms part of the Digital Egypt Generations (DEG) ecosystem of MCIT capacity-building programmes.
DEPI offers two learning pathways. The Foundation Track runs for six months: four months of technical and soft-skills instruction followed by two months of freelancing coaching and professional mentorship. The Industry Track delivers rapid four-month upskilling aligned to specific employer and sector needs. Both are nationally open and free of charge.
Seven specialised tracks are available: AI and Data Science, Software Development, Data Analytics, Digital Arts and Marketing, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity, Management and ERP, and Game Development. A parallel DEPI Industry Programme adds AI-focused vocational tracks in education, law, healthcare, software engineering and marketing automation, developed in partnership with leading domestic and international technology companies.
The programme operates on a cohort model: by 2026 it had progressed to its fifth cohort, with an initial target of 30,095 beneficiaries over the first three years and an overall goal of training more than 90,000 students. Each cohort includes business English, freelancing platform coaching and labour-market soft skills, aiming to connect graduates with local employment and international freelancing.
