Context

Many people, often older people, may not be making the most of opportunities available online that could help improve their lives. Perth and Kinross Council aims to help its tenants, many of whom are older or otherwise vulnerable, access these opportunities.

Objectives

To help tenants access the many opportunities available online.

Activities

An initial visit, usually at the learner's home or a local community space, establishes what the person already knows about their computer, tablet and/or phone, and what they would like to learn. A series of one-to-one sessions then helps the learner reach their goals. Drop-in sessions across the area are planned in future for less intensive support.

Results

The council is currently working with about 10 tenants, with around 80 people registered on the waiting list, and over 25 people are now classed as being digitally included.
