Enable India — Assistive Technology Employment Programme

Founded in 1999 in Bengaluru by Shanti Raghavan and Dipesh Sutariya, Enable India trains people with disabilities — including blind and visually impaired people — in assistive technology and digital/computer skills, then works to place them in competitive employment with corporate partners.
Independent press corroborates concrete outcomes distinct from the organisation's own reporting: the Christian Science Monitor (2016) documented more than 4,500 people placed across 600 companies, including named employers such as IBM, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, Café Coffee Day and Thomson Reuters, and an annual virtual job fair for disabled candidates drawing 1,300+ candidates and 100 recruiters from 40 companies. Citizen Matters (2010), an independent Bengaluru civic-journalism outlet, described quarterly job fairs running since 2007 and trainees drawn from as far as Kerala and Assam.
No independent, third-party impact evaluation of Enable India was found. Cumulative reach figures vary substantially between reporting periods and sources — roughly 130,000 people impacted per 2016 press coverage versus close to 500,000 on the organisation's current website — without any external audit reconciling the difference.
