Context

EstWin (Estonian Wideband Infrastructure Network) is a passive, publicly owned middle-mile fibre network built to bring ultra-fast internet within 1.5 km of nearly all rural Estonian households, businesses and institutions, funded by EU rural-development and structural funds.

Results

Between 2007 and 2020, EstWin built 6,273 km of fibre optic cable and 2,510 connection points, reaching speeds of ≥100 Mbps and putting 98% of Estonia's residential houses, businesses and authorities within 1.5 km of the network.
