Context

Fundación Infocentro, created in 2007 under Venezuela's Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology, runs a national network of community technology-access centres that began with a single pilot in Caracas in 2000 and expanded to 240 centres in 2001 under Decree 825.

Results

By its 25th anniversary in 2025 the network reported over 740 spaces (fixed centres, mobile units and infopoints) and 244 robotics-education nuclei. An independent academic evaluation based on interviews and a 290-user survey found good community and host receptivity, though separate academic assessments concluded the network eased social inclusion without necessarily building lasting technological literacy.
