Description

Ghana's Parliament approved a US$200 million World Bank-financed Digital Acceleration Project in 2023, aimed at expanding broadband access and digital services with an explicit focus on women, rural communities and persons with disabilities.
Under the project, government procured assistive and accessible-computing equipment for persons with disabilities: 338 desktop computers, 154 laptops, 220 accessible software packages, plus Braille displays and Braille encoders.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection announced in December 2025 that this equipment had been distributed, describing accessible technology as "essential and not a luxury" for enabling participation in education, employment, healthcare and civic life.
