Context
GlobalConsent is a six-module, web-based 'edutainment' sexual-violence-prevention programme adapted from the US RealConsent programme by Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health with CCIHP in Hanoi, combining behaviour-change modules with a locally produced serial drama.
Results
A randomised controlled trial enrolled 793 men aged 18-24 at two Hanoi universities in 2019, comparing GlobalConsent against an attention-control programme (AHEAD). At nine-month follow-up, GlobalConsent participants had markedly lower odds of escalating to higher levels of sexually violent behaviour (1.3x versus 2.7x baseline odds) and higher odds of prosocial bystander action than controls.
Conclusions
The trial measured self-reported behaviour rather than official records, was limited to two urban universities, and assessed outcomes only for heterosexual/bisexual men.
