On 16 May 2025, the global non-profit iamtheCODE and Tbilisi's Business and Technology University (BTU) opened Georgia's first AI Institute, aimed at equipping young people — particularly women, girls and marginalised communities from Georgia, Africa and the wider Global South — with AI skills.
The Institute's curriculum spans AI Literacy and Ethics, Machine Learning and Data Science, AI for Public Good, Entrepreneurship and Responsible Innovation, and Data for the SDGs.
Learners get access to more than 65,000 digital courses through iamtheCODE's platform and partnerships with Skillsoft and Coursera, and the Institute hosts events such as an international AI hackathon for women.
As a newly launched initiative, public sources document the Institute's partners, mission and curriculum but not yet enrolment, completion or learning-outcome figures, so it reflects a well-partnered early-stage initiative rather than one with proven measured impact.
