Women in Tech Kosovo and Luxembourg's development agency LuxDev ran an AI/digital-skills programme in which 77 young Kosovars (65 women) completed training in AI, programming and cybersecurity, building AI-driven websites before a study visit to Luxembourg.
NextGen Workforce: Upskilling for the AI Era is a module of the Luxembourg-financed 'Skills for Sustainable Jobs in Kosovo' project, implemented by LuxDev since August 2024 and delivered by the NGO Women in Tech Kosovo. It ran for about eight months to April 2025, training young Kosovars in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cybersecurity, finance, soft skills and programming.
The programme explicitly targeted women's participation in line with Kosovo's national digital and gender-equality strategies, aiming to build practical AI and digital skills among young Kosovars, many coding for the first time.
As a capstone, trainees spent three days building AI-driven personal web pages and pitched business ideas to a 'Shark Tank'-style panel. Winners joined a study visit to Luxembourg in April 2025, hosted by the University of Luxembourg's Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust and the National Centre for Continuous Professional Training.
A total of 77 participants completed the training, 65 of them women (84%). Citing 'impressive results', LuxDev extended the wider Skills for Sustainable Jobs project by five months, through October 2025, and the European Commission's Digital Skills & Jobs Platform independently lists the broader project as a good practice.
The main limitation is scale: the cohort covered dozens, not thousands, of participants, and no standardised skills assessment or post-programme employment tracking was published beyond completion counts and the capstone deliverables.
