IAntioquia - Colombia's Antioquia Department Trains 5,000+ Students and 1,000 Teachers in Generative AI

Announced in May 2026 in El Carmen de Viboral, "IAntioquia - Transformacion Digital Educativa" is a public-private programme run by the Antioquia department's education secretariat with the Colombian NGO Crack The Code, aimed at closing digital gaps and building AI competencies across the department's public schools.
The programme delivers an 80-hour generative-AI course to more than 5,000 grade 10-11 students in technical-media and complementary tracks; 1,000 teachers receive 20-hour pedagogical-AI training and 74 specialist tutors receive 40-hour specialised training to support classroom implementation, using project-based learning and STEM methodologies.
The department reports an investment of over 5.362 billion Colombian pesos, reaching 26 municipalities and roughly 40 school sites, with 32 institutions equipped with 643 laptops, 643 headsets, 32 televisions and 38 upgraded computer labs.
