Description

Jersey's government launched a video relay service (SignVideo) giving British Sign Language users access to a live remote interpreter from any gov.je contact page, plus a dedicated tablet kiosk at the tax office on La Motte Street — reported at launch in February 2020.

Jersey's own 2023–2024 Disability and Inclusion Strategy report states that in 2024 the service was upgraded to 24/7 on-demand BSL interpretation, extending cover across healthcare, education and public services, including emergency access.

The same government report notes that further investment intended to build on 2023's 'Computer Management System' upgrades to gov.je was not secured in 2024 — so while the interpretation service itself expanded, other parallel digital-accessibility work stalled for lack of funding.
