Context

Under a March 2025 Memorandum of Understanding between UNDP and Intel Corporation — the same partnership that launched the Digital Ambassadors programme in Lesotho — UNDP Liberia supported the University of Liberia in designing the country's first-ever Master of Artificial Intelligence programme.

Objectives

The goal is to co-create an AI curriculum adapted to Liberia's needs and to build lasting institutional capacity for AI education at the University of Liberia.

Activities

The design process combined six online sessions with global AI experts and in-person workshops in Monrovia involving 20 University of Liberia faculty members. In parallel, the same UNDP-Intel partnership delivered AI training to Liberian government officials on regulation, service delivery and policy uses of AI.
