Free app launched in 2019 in which users rate the accessibility of bars, shops, hotels and museums in Spain, combined with 14 official open datasets; 40,000+ places evaluated. Self-reported figures; no independent evaluation found.
Mapcesible is a free Android and iOS app created in 2019 by Fundación Telefónica with Ilunion Tecnología y Accesibilidad, described as designed and developed by and for end users. People with reduced mobility and others answer guided questions with contextual help to record the accessibility of restaurants, shops, hotels, museums, cinemas, sports centres, car parks, public toilets and beaches.
Crowdsourced ratings are combined with fourteen datasets from official bodies, including a national ministry, regional governments and city councils such as Madrid and Barcelona (datos.gob.es). The app is reported to hold more than 40,000 evaluated places and thousands of users.
Evidence caveats: the figures are self-reported by the promoter and the open-data portal; no independent evaluation of data accuracy or of impact on users' mobility was found, and the validation method for user contributions is not documented in the sources consulted. The orientatech.es review page carries no completed technical or social assessment. Coverage is likely uneven between large cities and rural areas. The model is nonetheless a low-cost example of combining public open data with lived-experience input.
