Context

CAUSE Canada operates a solar-powered Mobile Learning Lab bringing offline adaptive-learning tablets (KA Lite/Kolibri) to 30 accelerated-learning centres for 640 out-of-school adolescent girls in rural Sierra Leone, an area with almost no grid electricity or internet.

Results

CAUSE Canada's own monitoring found 86% of girls kept returning to their learning centre after the 2016 pilot began; a separate Learning Equality impact report attributes an 85% increase in math scores and 63% increase in literacy scores after about 120 hours of use — but both figures come from the implementing and platform organisations rather than an independent evaluation, and report different metrics from what appear to be different programme phases.
