Context

MsingiTek is a solar-powered, offline tablet programme delivering onebillion's AI-adaptive literacy and numeracy software to primary-school pupils in local languages. It launched in 2025 after a Kigoma pilot and a 2024 MoEST co-creation workshop, now running across five mainland Tanzanian regions plus all of Zanzibar, implemented locally with Tanzania Enlightenment Development Innovations (TEDI).

Results

Independent Tanzanian outlet The Chanzo reported roughly 62 schools live in 2025, with Imagine Worldwide targeting 500+ schools and over 160,000 students by end of 2026, under a formal MoU spanning MoEST, the President's Office for Regional Administration and Local Government, and Zanzibar's Ministry of Education. Founders Pledge estimates a cost of roughly GBP10 per beneficiary for about 0.3 learning-adjusted years of schooling.

Conclusions

The Tanzania/Zanzibar deployment does not yet have its own published outcome evaluation -- the strong effect-size evidence for the underlying software comes from Malawi and earlier Tanzanian trials, not from MsingiTek's 2025-26 rollout specifically. Coordination alongside Tanzania's other simultaneous tech-in-education initiatives remains an open question.
