On 29 July 2025, during the fifth-anniversary celebrations of India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam in New Delhi, the Ministry of Education launched 'My Career Advisor', a free mobile app built with the National Council of Educational Research and Training's PSSCIVE wing and the Wadhwani Foundation. The app is aimed at students in Grades 6–12 as well as their parents, teachers and school counsellors, and uses AI to generate personalised, aptitude- and interest-based career pathway recommendations across more than 1,500 documented career options, along with shareable reports and preparation guides.
The app is positioned as a response to a longstanding gap in India's public schools, where dedicated career-counselling staff are scarce and families often rely on costly private consultants for guidance on subject streams, courses and institutions. By making AI-matched guidance free and available on Android and iOS, the Ministry aims to extend a service previously concentrated in better-resourced schools to the wider public system.
Within six months of the national launch, Rajasthan's state government (under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma) began promoting the app through its own education department for students in Classes 9–12, illustrating early sub-national uptake beyond the initial central-government rollout.
As of mid-2026, no independent evaluation of the app's effect on students' subject choices, course completion or employment outcomes has been published, and the Ministry has not released usage or download figures. The evidence available describes a real, named, government-run deployment with credible technical partners, but the practice is still in its first year and its impact case rests on stated design intent rather than measured results.
