Plena inclusión España, the umbrella body of 17 regional federations and other entities, launched on 7 September 2023 a single online platform with more than 700 free, downloadable easy-to-read (lectura fácil) publications. They span literature, technology manuals, health guides (for example asthma and depression), finance and banking, tourism maps and civil-service exam materials, and cover more than ten years of production.
The method follows Spain's UNE easy-reading norms (UNE 153101 EX for writing and adaptation, UNE 153102 EX for validators) and uses validation groups of people with comprehension difficulties who check whether texts are understood. Plena inclusión Madrid's Adapta service offers adaptation, validation and cognitive-accessibility reviews and incorporates trained people with intellectual disability as validators.
The library is funded through citizens ticking the 'social purposes' box on Spanish income-tax returns.
Caution: we found no published data on downloads, readers or comprehension outcomes, and Adapta publishes no counts of validators employed or texts adapted, so impact is described by scale of output, not measured benefit.
