Safer Internet Together — Nationwide Digital Literacy & Online Safety Programme, Jamaica

The Digicel Foundation Jamaica launched 'Safer Internet Together' (SIT) on 11 February 2025, Safer Internet Day, as a year-long nationwide initiative to build digital literacy, online-safety awareness and cyber-hygiene skills across age groups, delivered in partnership with 150 schools islandwide.
Within its first year, SIT reached more than 34,000 students across the 150 partner schools and more than 2,000 senior citizens through dedicated digital-literacy and AI-awareness workshops held during Senior Citizens' Month, plus over 100 additional community members. In July 2026 the Foundation announced it was broadening the programme to include parents and teachers, aiming to equip adults to guide and monitor children's online behaviour.
SIT sits within the Digicel Foundation's wider portfolio, which since its founding has invested a cumulative US$22.5 million across more than 575 development projects reaching over 570,000 Jamaicans, giving the programme an established institutional and funding base to build on.
As a corporate-foundation programme still in its second year, SIT's reach figures come from the Foundation's own and press reporting rather than an independent evaluation, and no third-party assessment of learning outcomes (e.g., measured changes in online-safety behaviour) has yet been published.
