Nigeria's civil service unveiled Service-Wise GPT, an internal AI tool giving federal staff instant access to Public Service Rules and drafting help; a government-cited 2025 study found 73% of users saved 2-3 hours daily, though the tool remained in beta.
Launched on November 21, 2024 by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation under Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Service-Wise GPT gives Nigerian federal civil servants simplified, instant access to Public Service Rules, Statutory Instruments, Regulations and Guidelines, and is designed to help staff draft policy documents and official memos and conduct real-time policy research — launched alongside a new government email platform (GOVMail) and a Federal Civil Service Online Academy as part of a wider digitalisation drive.
Presenting results at the Global Government Summit 2025 in Singapore, the Office reported that a 2025 study found 73% of users saved 2–3 hours daily using the tool, and that it received a 90% user recommendation rate for efficiency and accessibility — figures repeated consistently across the Office's own release and independent Nigerian business press.
Included with caveats: as of the most recent official update found (March 2025), the tool was still described as in “Beta,” and no source discloses the study's sample size, methodology or an independent evaluator — the 73%/90% figures should be read as a government-reported pilot result rather than an externally audited outcome.
