Siraj — Jordan's National Generative-AI Learning and Teaching Assistant

Jordan's Ministry of Education launched Siraj (Arabic for "lamp"), an AI-powered learning and teaching assistant built with Replit, with OpenAI later announced as a supporting partner. Officials describe it explicitly as a support tool for teachers rather than a replacement, helping with lesson preparation, concept explanation and worksheet creation, with source references attached to its answers.
During its pilot phase, Siraj reached more than 100,000 students and teachers combined, with over 16,000 teachers using the assistant and roughly 55,000 students generating more than 350,000 interactions; platform-wide, more than 600,000 interactions were recorded.
Following the pilot, the Ministry announced plans to expand Siraj nationwide to Jordan's public schools, targeting 1.6 million students and 90,000 teachers.
No independently published study of learning outcomes exists yet: the usage and interaction figures are self-reported by the Ministry and its technology partners rather than verified by third-party research.
