Description

Under the EU-funded "EU4Moldova: Focal Regions" programme (EUR 110,000), UNICEF and UNDP partnered with Moldova's Ministry of Education and Research and the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC) to run "Strengthening Innovative Student-Centred Teaching-Learning Practices," a September 2023–June 2024 project targeting 12 schools competitively selected across the Cahul and Ungheni regions.
In January 2024 workshops, roughly 90-100 STEAM subject teachers were trained to integrate generative-AI tools into student-centred lesson design, and the project produced a dedicated digital GenAI training course for teachers; by its close, around 400 students and 90-100 teachers had used the skills to build STEAM projects with generative AI.
The programme deliberately targeted two under-resourced regions outside the capital rather than Chișinău's better-served schools, though public reporting stops at participation and output counts (workshops held, projects built) without an independent assessment of learning gains, and the EU grant funding was time-bound to the single project period.
