TU Delft ranked 15th in the European University Spinout Report 2025 — the highest of any Dutch university — with its venture arm Delft Enterprises now holding stakes in around 70 spin-off companies built through dedicated pre-startup programmes.
NL33TU Delft runs a layered technology-transfer pipeline for turning university research into companies: Ideation Labs helps researchers assess commercialisation and IP options early on, the Impact Studio (a joint initiative with Delft Enterprises and the Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship) tests market potential before a company is founded, and Delft Enterprises then takes an equity stake and provides ongoing support to spin-offs, alongside the independently run YES!Delft accelerator.
The pipeline is designed to help TU Delft researchers move from early-stage ideas through market validation to funded, equity-backed spin-off companies.
The European University Spinout Report 2025 — an independent analysis by a consortium including Dealroom.co, Cambridge Innovation Capital and Oxford Science Enterprises — ranked TU Delft 15th among European universities for spin-off value creation, the highest of any Dutch university (ahead of University of Amsterdam at 27th and TU Eindhoven at 28th), and Delft Enterprises now holds stakes in roughly 70 companies; Dutch academic spin-offs as a group have raised $2.7 billion since 2020 and are collectively valued above $13.4 billion, more than triple their 2019 valuation.
Because the spinout report measures VC-backed value creation, it favours ventures that attract investor capital and says less about TU Delft's broader technology-licensing activity or about spin-offs that create local jobs and value without large venture rounds.
