Using the Go Vocal engagement platform and LANDCLAN geospatial AI tool, two Oxfordshire councils cut Local Plan site-assessment time from about ten weeks to one (an 86% cut in digitising site boundaries), published as an official UK government case study.
West Oxfordshire and Cotswold District Councils needed to assess hundreds of potential housing sites for their joint Local Plan, traditionally requiring several officers to manually digitise boundaries and write site summaries.
Funded through round 4 of the UK PropTech Engagement Fund, the councils piloted Go Vocal (online site-boundary submission) and LANDCLAN (geospatial overlay and auto-generated site summaries).
Digitising site boundaries became 86% faster, and overall site-assessment time fell from roughly ten weeks to about one, a 90% reduction, with site information published immediately rather than after a 20-week wait.
Professional planning judgement remained central throughout: the tools supported officers' assessments rather than replacing them.
