Serbia's first science park backed 240+ tech firms employing 2,800+ people. Three cities have copied it

29 Sept. 2026 · Serbia

Science Technology Park Belgrade, Serbia's first science and technology park, opened in 2015 with EUR 4.97 million in Swiss co-funding. By 2026 it reports having supported 240+ tech companies, roughly two thirds of them early-stage startups, employing 2,800+ people and exporting to 60+ countries. Its ParkUP! and Raising Starts programmes have since been extended to Novi Sad, Niš and Čačak, with affiliated innovation hubs in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Evidoria holds 3 adoptions in its records, all in cities. The figures come from the park's own reporting and a European Investment Bank donor case study, and no independent evaluation of net additionality was found. The evidence is descriptive: 1 of 1 practices evidence-assessed, none on a strong design, the practice scores 71.4/100, and the 3 adoptions are what Evidoria has been able to document, not the model's full reach.
