What works in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has progressively strengthened its electoral gender quota system from 25% to a 40–60% parity band since 1997, lifting women's representation in the Chamber of Deputies to 36.8% (70 of 190 seats) by May 2024—the highest level on record—while Senate representation remained lower at 13% due to weaker enforcement. The República Digital digital-inclusion programme (2016–2021) fell substantially short of targets, delivering only 23–43% of planned devices to teachers and students before dissolution. More recently, the country launched InvestmentMap 2.0 in December 2025, an AI chatbot for public investment transparency with transparent algorithmic reasoning, though operational usage metrics have not yet been published.
