Context

Women Political Leaders (WPL) made a five-year commitment under the UN Generation Equality Forum to advance women's participation, leadership and decision-making power within political structures. The commitment underpins WPL's co-leadership of the Action Coalition on Feminist Movements and Leadership and targets legislative and societal change through political engagement, network-building and advocacy.

Objectives

WPL commits to mobilising and resourcing women political leaders and decision-makers in as many as 50 countries to drive legislative and societal transformation toward Generation Equality objectives, including increasing the number and influence of women in political office.

Activities

Planned activities include dedicated political and parliamentary engagement, network-building, national convenings of women political leaders, mentorship programmes to support girls and young women into leadership roles, inter-linked national and global political networks, and an advocacy and communications strategy at national and global level.
