AI for Youth — AADF and Intel's AI Curriculum for Albanian High Schools

AI for Youth is a joint initiative of the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF) and Intel that introduces artificial-intelligence education into Albanian public high schools. Piloted from an October 2021 memorandum of understanding and launched in October 2022, the programme uses Intel's AI for Youth curriculum — also deployed in more than 15 other countries — to teach students aged 13–19 the fundamentals of AI.

By 2026 the programme aims to cover 30 high schools across 11 Albanian cities, having expanded from an initial 15-school phase confirmed by Education Minister Ogerta Manastirliu in November 2023. AADF has committed a $4.93 million budget to train 140 ICT teachers on Intel's curriculum and to construct 22 dedicated AI labs, with a target of reaching 2,000 high-school students nationwide by the end of 2026.

Neither AADF nor Albania's state news agency has yet published independent evaluation data on student learning outcomes; public reporting to date documents infrastructure build-out (labs, teacher training) and enrolment targets rather than measured AI-competency gains, so the programme's impact on learning remains to be demonstrated as it scales toward its 2026 targets.
