Black Country Click Start

The Black Country Click Start project seeks to provide wraparound support to improve digital and financial inclusion. The project specifically targets social housing tenants who will be affected by the rollout of Universal Credit and other aspects of welfare reform, with clear progression routes onto skills and employment provision.

BCCS is aimed at individuals living in Dudley, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Neatherton and West Bromwich, the Black Country Click Start Project is delivered over a minimum of eight sessions and helps users to:

Use computers and mobile devices
Understand online basics with a ‘beginner’s guide’
Stay safe online
Create an email account
Use social media safely
Shop online and use comparison websites
Apply for jobs and volunteering opportunities
Manage your money online and use online banking
Improve your access to health services
Understand how to access benefits and public services

Individuals are expected to increase their digital and online confidence, with some progression into further education, training, and job searching.

Context: The Building Better Opportunities programme, funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund, are co-investing in local projects tackling the root causes of worklessness, promoting social inclusion and driving local jobs and growth.
Black Country Click Start is one of four projects within the Building Better Opportunities programme across the Black Country and will help people across Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley & Sandwell move into or closer to the labour market by developing their financial and digital skills.

Stakeholders involved: Black Country Click Start is funded through the Building Better Opportunities programme. This programme is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF) who are co-investing in local projects.
The Black Country Click Start project is jointly led by whg and Accord Group in partnership with 4 local organisations across the Black Country. whg is working alongside the following partners to deliver the project: Accord, Sandwell Citizens Advice Bureau, Black Country Housing Group, Walsall College and Wolverhampton Homes.
