Context

The Comitati per l'imprenditoria femminile (Committees for Women's Entrepreneurship) is a network established since 1999 within Italy's Chamber of Commerce system (Unioncamere), following a Memorandum of Understanding between Unioncamere and the Ministry of Economic Development, renewed in 2003. The Committees promote women's entrepreneurship as part of the production system and foster entrepreneurial culture among women.

Activities

Committees have been progressively established in Chambers of Commerce across Italy, with women entrepreneurs involved in promoting women's entrepreneurship also represented on them given their position within companies. They work at local level to encourage women to found their own companies and take on leading roles.

Conclusions

The National Committee has worked to promote and support women's entrepreneurship across Italy since 1999, with local committees pushing for women's business ownership and leadership.
