Description

On 9 June 2026, Croatia's Ministry of Justice, Administration and Digital Transformation launched an AI virtual assistant on gov.hr, the country's central state portal, funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPOO) project to build a unified contact centre for e-public services. The assistant lets citizens ask questions in natural language — about a passport, enrolling a child in kindergarten, changing an address — instead of searching articles and regulations, and returns structured answers with links to the relevant e-services. Minister Damir Habijan said the system answers only from verified, official gov.hr content that refreshes daily, and does not require or store personal data.
Croatia's national press agency HINA reported the same launch details independently of the ministry. Index.hr covered the launch under the headline 'we tested it', but the article itself contained only ministerial statements — no example questions, answers, or accuracy findings — a gap between framing and content worth noting.
As of its first weeks live, no usage statistics, error-rate figures or independent accuracy audit for the assistant have been published by the ministry or found in press coverage. It is included here as a transparently-scoped, EU-funded national rollout rather than a proven-impact deployment.
