Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) – Indonesia

Indonesia's Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS), run by the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi, formerly Kominfo), offers free digital-skills training tracks — including IT Support, Data Analytics, UX Design and Project Management — in partnership with global technology companies, including Google Indonesia, Cisco and Microsoft, and roughly 90 Indonesian universities and polytechnics.

Since piloting with 1,000 recipients in 2018 and scaling to 25,000 in 2019, DTS reported 92,192 graduates in 2023 and set a 2024 target of 100,000 participants; Komdigi/BPSDM states more than 500,000 people have graduated cumulatively since 2018. The programme responds to a 2018 World Bank-cited projection that Indonesia will need roughly 9 million additional digitally skilled workers, about 600,000 per year, by 2030.

All participation figures are self-reported by the implementing ministry (BPSDM/Komdigi) and echoed by Indonesian media (The Jakarta Post, Antara News); no independent tracer study of graduate employment outcomes, and no public budget figure, was located. Reported certification counts are also inconsistent across the ministry's own materials — for instance, one page cites 17,000 total certifications from 2018–2023 in specific tracks versus the 500,000+ cumulative graduate figure cited elsewhere — a discrepancy the source material does not reconcile.
