The aim of this project is to foster digital inclusion of people whose lack of digital skills impedes their participation in society. European Commission data shows that almost half of Europeans (44%) do not have basic digital skills, and at the same time it is predicted that 90%
European Commission data show 44% of Europeans lack basic digital skills, while 90% of future jobs are expected to require them. Public libraries are positioned as a trusted, accessible channel to reach digitally excluded people, particularly older citizens, migrants and people from underprivileged backgrounds.
Train a sample of 80 librarians and equip them with resources to in turn train 4,000 digitally excluded people across the four pilot countries (Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Poland), and demonstrate that this train-the-trainer model can be replicated by other European partners.
Librarians from Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Poland are trained and given resources (available online under Creative Commons licences, in English and local languages) to then deliver digital-skills training to excluded groups such as older citizens, migrants and disadvantaged residents, adapted to each partner country's local context.
