Context

Go ON NI is a Northern Ireland government initiative that brings together initiatives, places and tools to help and encourage 'off-liners' to become internet beginners, condensing information into three sections: Discover the Internet; Events and Training; and Free Internet Access.

Objectives

To introduce digital technology to people who aren't familiar with going online and to support beginners who want to improve their online skills.

Activities

Free technology awareness sessions take place in libraries, community centres and various venues across Northern Ireland, including IT help for beginners, an introduction to various mobile devices, an introduction to social media, sessions on creating photobooks and accessing free eBooks and eMagazines, shopping securely online, planning journeys and holidays, and organising your life online or becoming your own boss; the initiative also runs a Digital Champions Programme, with stakeholders including Supporting Communities, CommunityNI and NICVA.
