Description

Cerebral palsy affects an estimated 17 million people worldwide and around 40,000 in Sri Lanka, where families in remote areas often cannot reach paediatric specialists or regular therapy.
On World Cerebral Palsy Day, 6 October 2020, Dilmah's MJF Charitable Foundation launched "disABILITY", designed and built by MillenniumIT ESP on Microsoft's cloud/AI platform (HealthVision), with awareness support from Sarva and pilot rollout via World Vision Lanka. The Android app (iOS planned) offers guided disability and developmental screening, links to paediatricians, early identification and intervention, and therapeutic, educational and rehabilitation content in Sinhala, Tamil and English, adapting to the user's age and letting caregivers track a child's progress with MJF's multidisciplinary team.
At launch, MJF's four support centres were already serving roughly 400 children and youth a day; MillenniumIT ESP and MJF Foundation's joint submission built around the app was named a finalist for Microsoft's 2021 Inclusion Changemaker Partner of the Year award.
Honest caveat: the sources found report programme-wide daily reach and the award-finalist recognition, but no independent study of the app's own clinical or developmental impact on users has been published.
