Context

Experience AI is an 8-hour teacher-training course built jointly by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind, providing ready-to-use lesson plans, slide decks, videos, student activities and assessments to introduce AI foundations and AI-safety/data-protection literacy to students aged 11-14. Amideast, the US non-profit long active in Tunisian education and exchange programmes, delivers the course in Tunisia in Arabic, in person and online, to Grades 6-9 educators, who receive a certificate and full access to localised teaching materials.

Activities

Amideast Tunisia trains Grades 6-9 educators using the localised Arabic-language Experience AI curriculum, in person and online.

Results

At the global level — the level for which the programme publishes outcome data — Experience AI has reached over 7,000 educators directly and an estimated 1.2 million students across more than 160 countries, with resources downloaded over 325,000 times. Follow-up surveys of international partner-country participants found 95% of educators reported the sessions increased students' AI knowledge, and 93% of partner-organisation staff said the training increased their own AI knowledge. None of these figures are broken out for Tunisia specifically.

Conclusions

This is a real, verifiably-running national deployment in Tunisia of a global programme with strong self-reported global evidence, but Tunisia-specific reach and outcomes have not been separately measured or published.

Implementation

Indicative cost
Low (< €50k) — No cost figures for the Tunisia deployment are published; the curriculum itself is provided free by the Raspberry Pi Foundation/Google DeepMind, so estimated cost to Amideast is primarily staff delivery time rather than material or infrastructure spend.
Time to results
Short (< 1 year) — The course is an 8-hour training; Tunisia delivery is ongoing, with no stated start/end date for the national rollout in available sources.
Staffing & skills
Amideast Tunisia (local delivery, in Arabic, in person and online), Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind (global curriculum developers and funders)

Conditions for success

  • Localisation of materials into Arabic rather than delivering an English-only curriculum
  • Delivery through an established in-country education NGO (Amideast) with existing teacher networks
  • Free access to a pre-built, ready-to-use curriculum (lesson plans, slides, videos, assessments) reducing local development burden

Common failure modes

  • No Tunisia-specific participation or outcome data has been published, so local reach and effectiveness cannot be confirmed independently of the global programme figures
  • Global outcome figures rely on self-reported participant surveys rather than independent measurement of student learning

Where it fits

Governance type
NGO-delivered, globally-developed curriculum implemented via a national education non-profit
Scale
national (Tunisia), part of a 160+ country global programme
Income level
lower-middle-income (Tunisia); global programme spans many income levels
