Reserve Bank of Fiji hosts a UNCDF/UNDP-backed innovation hub in Suva that ran a 108-applicant hackathon and a nine-week fintech accelerator in its first year, adding government and bank sponsors for a second year.
The Fiji Innovation Hub opened in July 2025 inside the Reserve Bank of Fiji's building in Suva, developed by the Reserve Bank with the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), the UNDP Pacific Digital Economy Programme (funded by the European Union, Australia and New Zealand), Mastercard, HFC Bank, Fiji Airways and implementation partner Creative HQ (New Zealand).
In its pilot year the Hub ran Fiji's first national hackathon, drawing 108 registrations and selecting 60 participants, followed by the nine-week Fiji Innovation Activator accelerator for early-stage digital and fintech founders. The pilot closed with an Inaugural Fintech Showcase in August 2026 attended by more than 100 innovators, investors and officials, and the Hub entered its second year with two new sponsors, Fiji's Ministry of Policing and Communications and the Fiji Development Bank.
The Hub is too new to show medium-term outcomes such as jobs created or follow-on investment secured by graduate startups, and it remains dependent on continued donor and sponsor funding rather than its own revenue — a common early-stage risk for donor-seeded innovation hubs that this catalogue records honestly rather than projecting forward.
