Context
As part of Malaysia's national 2030 AI-economy strategy, Google and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) enabled Gemini for Education across all 20 of Malaysia's public universities, effective January 2026 — one of Southeast Asia's largest national higher-education AI deployments to date. The rollout reaches close to 600,000 students and 75,000 faculty members system-wide; within it, 40,000 faculty were additionally equipped with Google AI Pro for Education, and 128,000 students were given access to NotebookLM Enterprise.
