Gerakan Nasional 1000 Startup Digital — Indonesia's Nationwide Digital-Startup Pipeline

Launched in 2016 by Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) as part of the country's ambition to become 'the digital energy of ASEAN,' the programme runs participants through a five-stage funnel — Ignition, Workshop, Hacksprint, Bootcamp and Incubation — coordinated nationally by KUMPUL and delivered through local hub organisations across 17 hubs in 34 Indonesian provinces.
It operates under a 'pentahelix' model combining government, private companies (including Gojek, Tokopedia and Ruangguru), venture-capital partners (including Sequoia Capital and BRI Ventures), universities and community organisers, who together deliver mentoring and market-linkage support rather than direct funding.
Indonesia's submission to the ITU/WSIS Prizes and the programme's own materials report more than 100,000 potential founders reached and more than 1,400 startups produced since 2016; an earlier published figure counted 584 startups from the 2016–2018 cohorts, alongside more than 400 active mentors.
The widely cited participation and output figures come from the implementing ministry and its partners rather than an independent third-party audit; no public data on startup survival rates, revenue, jobs created or follow-on funding raised was found, so the programme's downstream economic impact should be treated as self-reported and unverified. The programme explicitly provides no direct funding to participating startups.
