The Ghana Cocoa Forest REDD+ Programme (GCFRP) is the world's first commodity-based REDD+ programme, covering the High Forest Zone and engaging cocoa farmers across designated hotspot areas under a World Bank FCPF Emission Reductions Payment Agreement (2019–2024).
The programme spans 5.9 million ha with more than 140,000 cocoa farmers; its first results-based payment of US$4.86 million was made for 972,456 tCO2e in January 2023, under an ERPA worth up to US$50 million for 10 million tCO2e.
