Give1 Project – All Girls Tech Camps

Give1 Project Gambia, a Gambian non-profit, launched the All Girls Tech Camp in 2015 to train young women in urban and rural Gambia in ICT skills, pairing technical training with entrepreneurship and leadership content and mentor follow-up after each session. Camps are run free of charge, with the organisation covering training, food and transport costs for participants.

Curriculum ranges from basic ICT literacy for beginners to coding, JavaScript, web design, computer graphics and database design for more advanced participants, delivered across five schools in the Gambia. After winning the 2016 FIRE Africa Gold Award, the project used a US$7,000 Google grant to launch a follow-on "Let Girls Code" programme in March 2017, offering 12 consecutive weekends of Android app-development training.

By 2020, the camps had trained more than 500 girls and young women aged 13-20. Reported figures come from the organisation and partner write-ups (1 World Connected, AFRINIC); no independent third-party impact evaluation of employment or income outcomes has been published.
