A Moldovan public-private partnership delivers free coding, AI and design e-courses to over half the country's high schools, training 1,000+ teachers and reaching 50,000+ students since 2018.
Tekwill in Every School is a national digital-skills programme launched via a June 2018 MoU between ATIC (Moldovan Association of Private ICT Companies) and Moldova's Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, funded by USAID, UNDP Moldova and the Government of Sweden. It delivers free coding, web/app development, design, AI and business-planning electives to students aged 13-19 through an online platform and 34 school-based Digital Labs.
The programme scaled from a 77-school pilot (2020) to 157 more schools (2021) and 99 more (2022), reaching 333 schools (~60% of Moldova's high schools) by 2023, with 1,000+ teachers trained (about 500 switching from Pascal to Python/C++), 1,500+ teachers trained in the Flipped Classroom method, 50,000+ students engaged, and 2,000+ student-built tech projects.
